Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and increasing page ranking is often called a dark art. Comics suggest practitioners wear long wizard robes, chant ancient phrases, and light lots of candles.

Personally, I prefer the voodoo chicken. A couple of good waves over a computer and everything tends to start working just the way you want.

A company I once worked for actually gave out key-chain sized voodoo chickens to all new employees of the IT department. I didn’t start out in the IT department but managed to earn myself a voodoo chicken.

A bit about my background: I have over 10 years experience working as a data analyst, business analyst, and project manager for high-tech projects - mostly internet based. I’ve done a bit of coding - mostly databases. There are still some of my code fragments floating across the net. I’ve worked in the insurance, banking, and real estate businesses.

The plan is to share some insights into SEO/page rankings methodologies, utilizing social media in your on-line strategies, and adding a mobile component given the prevalence of smart phones in the market.
